Surgical Procedures

Surgery is often the best option for a variety of colorectal conditions. Jefferson Health – Northeast offers traditional forms of open surgery, performed by experienced and board-certified surgeons. We have recently developed forms of surgery that are minimally-invasive and use a laparoscopic approach offer the advantages of small incisions, less pain, early discharge and faster return to normal activities. Specialists can treat a variety of colorectal conditions with these newer types of procedures:
- Polyps
- Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)
- Diverticulitis
- Proctologic conditions (conditions of the anus and rectum)
- Colorectal cancer
For surgical care for additional types of gastrointestinal conditions, see Jefferson Health – Northeast's Division of General Surgery.
