Jefferson Health – Northeast has excels in mammography and multimodality breast imaging, with the latest in technology, including Invenia™ ABUS (Automated Breast Ultrasound System), Selenia® Dimensions®, and GE SenoClaire 3D Breast Tomosynthesis (3D Tomo).
Invenia™ ABUS (Automated Breast Ultrasound System)
Mammography may miss over 1/3 of cancers in dense breasts. The InveniaTMABUS 2.0 (Automated Breast Ultrasound System) is a comfortable, nonionizing alternative to other supplemental screening options for women with dense breast tissue. When used in addition to mammography, Invenia ABUS 2.0 can improve breast cancer detection by 37.5 percent over mammography alone.
The revolutionary Selenia Dimensions system, which has set the standard in mammography screening, provides: Exceptionally sharp images; seamless transition between imaging modes; the world's first and only tomosynthesis-guided biopsy; ergonomic design for patient comfort and ease of operation.
GE SenoClaire 3D Breast Tomosynthesis (3D Tomo)
The versatile imaging technology provides mammograms with high resolution, low radiation and excellent detection for patients with all types of breast tissues, resulting in a more confident screening.
While other programs moved quickly to introduce first-generation technology, the Hospital waited until it could provide its patients with the latest in digital breast tomosynthesis. SenoClaire™ is the only 3D breast tomosynthesis approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration that delivers the same low dose as 2D screenings, with a 3D view dose at least 40 percent lower than other 3D mammography on the market.
The SAVI SCOUT® surgical guidance system is an innovative technology allows our Breast Surgeons to more accurately pinpoint lesions prior to surgery. The sophisticated technology helps surgeons with tumor localization, surgical planning, surgical guidance, and confirmation of the tissue to be removed.
The SAVI SCOUT® surgical guidance system uses no radiation and no wires. Instead, a small staple-sized device (reflector) is placed in the tissue target up to seven days prior to surgery. The SAVI SCOUT, which uses uses radar technology, guides the surgeon to precisely target the breast tissue during a lumpectomy or excisional biopsy procedure, plan the incision and direct surgery.
Same-Day Readings and Results
Patients who request same-day results when they make their appointments will receive an imaging summary of their mammography.
The BRCA gene test is a blood test that uses DNA analysis to identify harmful changes (mutations) in either one of the two breast cancer susceptibility genes - BRCA1 and BRCA2. People who inherit mutations in these genes are at an increased risk of developing breast cancer and ovarian cancer compared with the general population.
The BRCA gene test is offered by our Breast Health Program to those who are likely to have an inherited mutation based on personal or family history of breast cancer or ovarian cancer. The BRCA gene test isn't routinely performed on people at average risk of breast and ovarian cancers.
