Our Surgical Approaches

The right surgery for you

Our program offers minimally invasive/robotic procedures - including Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass and sleeve gastrectomy - to help patients begin the journey to a healthier life.

Sleeve Gastrectomy
Sleeve gastrectomy involves removing a portion of the stomach and creating a new smaller stomach in the shape of a "sleeve." The section removed is also responsible for making ghrelin, a hormone that signals hunger to the brain. With a smaller stomach and less ghrelin, patients' appetites are easily satisfied by smaller meals.

Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass
The Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass achieves weight loss by changing how your stomach and small intestine handle the food you eat. After the surgery, your stomach will be smaller and you will feel full with less food.

Minimally Invasive/Robotic Surgery
Minimally invasive/robotic techniques revolutionized weight-loss surgery. Procedures done at Jefferson Torresdale Hospital are done with laparoscopy or robotic-assisted surgery, which means smaller incisions and less pain, allowing patients to get out of bed at night. This can help shorten the hospital stay.
