Summer Student Volunteer Program

We offer a number of challenging volunteer opportunities for students age 16 and older. We offer an 8-week Summer Student Volunteer Program for interested students. Many of our students have such a rewarding experience during our summer program that they continue volunteering their time throughout the school year, (when appropriate and possible.)

As a volunteer you will have opportunities to serve our patients in several ways. There are many different assignments offered to students in several departments of the hospital.

A volunteer's service is important in helping our hospitals carry out our commitment of service to our patients and to the community we serve.

Participation in the Summer Student Volunteer Program will give the student opportunities for training in community service and to observe careers in the hospital healthcare arena.

Volunteers serve without pay and are responsible for their own transportation. A volunteer is expected to be reliable and regular in attendance.

Basic Requirements

  • Must be 16 years of age or older.
  • Must be able to work a regular weekly assignment
  • Must have two school references completed by an adult teacher
  • Must meet medical immunization and background check requirements

All students accepted for the Summer Student Volunteer Program are required to attend an Orientation Session. After Orientation, there will be on-the-job training. Staff and experienced volunteers will participate in the training process.

The dress code is outlined in the Student Handbook, which the student shall receive at Orientation.

An ID Badge will be issued at the Orientation Session and must be worn at all times while in the hospital.

SPECIAL NOTE: It is important to note that there are only a certain number of designated Summer Student Volunteer Program positions available for service, so there may not be an opportunity for you at the time you are requesting to become a volunteer.

Please feel free to contact our Department Secretary for additional information at 215-612-4170.

Thank you for considering our hospital location for your volunteer service.
